Simona Halep classe 1991, n.1 del mondo dalla prossima settimana
Simona Halep, 26 anni, diventerà numero 1 del mondo da lunedì prossimo diventando la 25 esima n.1 del mondo nella storia del ranking WTA.
Questa mattina nella prima semifinale del WTA Premier Mandatory di Pechino, ha sconfitto la lettone Jelena Ostapenko, campionessa del Roland Garros, ottendendo finalmente la vittoria decisiva per diventare n.1 del mondo.
In quella che era la quinta volta per Simona di diventare n.1 del mondo vincendo la partita decisiva, è stata finalmente in grado di rompere l’incantesimo e sconfitto la tennista del nord Europa per 6-2, 6-4, in un incontro con poca storia.
Halep, una delle giocatrici più costanti nel circuito nel corso degli ultimi anni, diventerà n.1 del mondo senza vincere un torneo del Grand Slam.
Questo è giù accaduto a Dinara Safina, Caroline Wozniacki, Jelena Jankovic e, già quest’anno a Karolina Pliskova.
La romena è anche la quinta n.1 WTA del 2017, dopo Angelique Kerber, Serena Williams, Karolina Pliskova e Garbiñe Muguruza.

Parole sacrosante! Non si finisce mai di imparare. Io, difatti, grazie alle tue lezioncine, sparse qua e là su questo sito, inizio a capire che Caroline Wozniacki è probabilmente la più grande tennista della storia, anche se non ha mai vinto uno di quei quattro torneini minori chiamati Slam; che Martina Navratilova, per aver osato mettere in dubbio il valore della giocatrice danese, è una che di tennis ci capisce davvero poco ( d’altra parte cosa ci si potrebbe aspettare da una ex atleta in pensione che ha vinto giusto nove volte un torneuccio amatoriale che si gioca su praticelli verdi, così tanto scivolosi, che giustamente, la grandissima Wozniacki non ama trascorrervi mai più di una settimana); che la mia campionessa preferita, senza l’assunzione di un certo farmaco, non sarebbe riuscita a vincere neppure una partitella giocata sul campetto del mio condominio. Insomma, a quanto pare sono stato molto fortunato a imbattermi in qualcuno all’altezza di impartirmi tali insegnamenti. Pensa, che fino ad oggi, ho sempre creduto che nessuno potesse ritenersi un vero campione di tennis, senza avere in bacheca almeno un paio di trofei Slam; che la Navratilova fosse una delle più rispettabili esponenti del nostro amatissimo sport; che Masha fosse una fuoriclasse e che Petra Kvitova, pur non avendo mai raggiunto la prima posizione mondiale, giusto per una manciata di punti, non potesse, mai e poi mai, correre il rischio di essere reputata da qualcuno, una giocatrice di livello inferiore a quello della Wozniacki. Per cui non posso che ringraziarti, anche perché convincerti che hai torto sarebbe una vera “impresa”. A buon intenditor…

Non sapevo che la Jankovic sia stata per 67 settimane al n.1 del mondo ed entro i 21 anni abbia vinto 18 titoli WTA di cui 6 Premier, 3 Premier_5 e 2 Mandatory e nemmeno che tutte le volte che ha incontrato la Sharapova negli Slam o Finals l’abbia battuta.
Ma a quanto pare c’è sempre qualcosa di nuovo da (dis)imparare.

L’unica cosa che non va invece sono proprio i 1.500 delle Finals, si deve premiare il merito non il prestigio.
Alle Finals per arrivare a 1.500 punti devi battere ben 5 top_8, negli Slam spesso ne batti solo 1 o 2, molto raro 3.
Per me le Finals andrebbero giocate su 2 settimane a girone unico, con sfida Finale tra le prime due classificate. Sarebbero otto match e 2.000 punti sarebbero più che giustificati.
Non capisco perchè le Finals debbano stare per forza sotto gli Slam, un torneo che sino al 1969 era pure amatoriale.
Non regge nemmeno il discorso a fine stagione le giocatrici sono stanche etc. Allora nel calcio le fasi Finali dei mondiali dovrebbero giocarle a metà stagione e non dopo che finiscono i campionati nazionali.
Ciò che non va nelle Finals è aver inserito in mezzo ai piedi questo master_B tra le restanti 12 top20, che si potrebbe anche fare ma non a fine anno, andrebbe eventualmente inserito all’inizio della nuova stagione.
Tutto il resto direi che va +- bene così, la differenza tra Premie_5 e Mandatory, magari la si potrebbe riportare a 200 punti come era in origine nel 2009.
Si potrebbero anche aumentare a 1.100 i punti dei Mandatory, portandoli tutti e 4 a 96 player come Miami e Indian Wells.
*** La tanto dileggiata, disprezzata e detestata Caroline Wozniacki ha dimostrato che si può stare al vertice del mondo per 67 settimane consecutive anche senza vincere Slam, e conteggiando solo 16 tornei, con i Premier_5 che allora prendevano 800 punti.
Se quest’anno la Muguruza è arrivata al N.1 con uno Slam e 17 tornei utili (dal 2016 chi gioca le Finals conteggia 16 tornei + le Finals) e pochissimi punti la colpa non è sua ma delle altre che hanno vinto poco, per cui se tutte vincono poco è giusto che stia davanti chi vince almeno uno Slam.
PS: La tua preferita Petra, nel 2011 oltre Wimbledon vinse anche le Finals battendo tutte le giocatrici, ed arrivò al n.2 del mondo:
Ranking WTA 2011 :
1) Caroline Wozniacki (DEN)… 7.485 punti
2) Petra Kvitová (CZE)…….. 7.370 p.
Con 500 punti in più Petra sarebbe diventata n.1 e sarebbe stato meritatissimo, l’anno Petra ha incontrato 16 Top10 e ne ha battuto 13 (5 ossia il 38,5% alle Finals).
***** Eppure le Finals non potrebbero essere messe alla pari degli Slam che sono ben 4 all’anno, mentre le Finals invece si giocano solo una volta.
Continuo a non capacitarmi di questa cosa.

Conoscevo simona solo di nome perché aveva perso una finale in Marocco con la Briant.La vidi giocare per la prima volta a Dubai nel 2012 contro la Wozniacki e fu amore a prima vista;il modo di colpire la palla così pulito,la facilità nel trovare gli angoli,la leggerezza in campo;quella partita la perse e anche piuttosto nettamente ma da lì non l’avrei mai più smessa di seguire.Fu un anno altalenante che vide poche vittorie qua e là come quella sulla petrova a Mosca che mi esaltò ma poco altro fino a Roma 2013 che tutti conoscete;da lì è storia,Simo era finlamente esplosa e tutti potevano conoscerla.Ho pianto per lei come nelle finali del Roland Garros e oggi è riuscita a farmela di nuovo,questa volta lacrime di gioia però;concordo con l’utente Gaz quando dice sono più contento dei 7700 del 2015,vedere però Simona abbracciare quel numero 1 è una gioia impagabile..auguri Simo sei una numero uno bellisima

Spero nel prossimo anno possa assicurarsi uno Slam lo merita per la sua classe e signorilità!

Concordo, è tutto più interessante e inaspettato, certo per chi scommette è un problema in più non per me che non scommetto.
Si può fare: 2000 punti Slam, 1500 Master (punteggio massimo) come è oggi.
Poi 1200 Mandatory e lasciare 900 P5. O diminuire il punteggio dei P5, perché sono troppo pochi 100 punti di differenza col Mandatory (che è obbligatorio, come da nome).
Per me è piu’ questa la cosa strana: 900 pt Premier5 e poi “solo” 1000 per il Mandatory.
Lo Slam io lo lascerei con quel punteggio (perché poi al Master come fai?) anche perché il prestigio della vittoria Slam non sono i punti guadagnati, ma appunto il prestigio stesso.
Comunque poi quei tanti punti li devi difendere l’anno dopo, non sono poi così “regalati”.

Meritata la prima posizione! sono felice che quest’annno di siamo avvicendate tutte le comprimarie i attesa di vedere chi sarà la nuova regina . Ci tengo a ricordare che Simona comunque era già stata al n. 2 seconda solo a Serena.

Assolutamente no. Le peggiori ere sono quelle dominate da Williams,Sharapova e Azarenka.Preferisco di gran lunga incertezza e variabilità,dove anche grandi tenniste come la Halep,alla quale manca solo l’acuto nello slam,riescono a togliersi le loro soddisfazioni.

Sempre detto che i punti assegnati negli slam sono sproporzionati rispetto ai Premier ad esempio.
La vittoria di uno slam sono 2000 punti, due settimane perfette sono all’incirca un terzo della numero 1 mondiale.
La Halep sgambetta da 10 mesi,la Stephens ha uno slam ma Chissa’come per quanto tempo ancora sara’in PARTY-TIME

Brava Simona, hai dimostrato che non serve vincere degli SLAM per diventare numero UNO, basta un po’ di COSTANZA (in effetti mi sembra esagerato il punteggio assegnato ad uno SLAM a confronto con un PREMIER MANDATARY, considerando che a quest’ultimo ormai vi partecipa il top delle tenniste).
Una giocatrice capace di battere la Sharapova nel modo in cui lo ha fatto la Halep, e poi di liquidare con altrettanta facilità le due migliori esponenti della NextGen al femminile, merita certamente lo scettro della WTA. Ora però dovrà fare il possibile per vincere le Finals e suggellare la prima posizione con un trionfo Slam. Spiacerebbe vederla accomunata a tenniste come Wozniacki e Jankovic perché, detto francamente, Simona mi sembra avere un potenziale di ben altra caratura.
Menomale nessun giornalista abbia domandato alla Halep quale era il motivetto musicale nella pausa prima che servisse per il match.
Credo sarebbe stata impreparata.
Premio sacrosanto per la campionessa di Costanza e di costanza (con la maiuscola o con la minuscola va sempre bene!)
Da inizio anno 7mo cambio per 5^ giocatrice diversa: Kerber (3 volte), Williams S. (2), Pliskova, Muguruza, Halep. Che la qualità sia scesa non direi ma sicuramente manca una dominatrice.

dopo aver trovato ripetutamente chi la batte in finale, si è trovata il primo posto nel ranking.
Perlomeno in finale ci è arrivata un bel po di volte, un passo avanti notevole rispetto a chi si è ritrovata nr. 1 mentre se ne stava già in vacanza nel periodo in cui le colleghe erano impegnate in quel torneo estivo sull’erbetta londinese di cui mi sfugge il nome……..

Quando gli dei del tennis rendono giustizia! questa ragazza contenuta, modesta, un po timida, fragile, che si vede ama il tennis e mettiamoci che dal 2013, momento in cui è esplosa, ha guadagnato, solo dal circuito, circa 20 milioni e quindi potrebbe mollare e invece eccola li a soffrire per raggiungere i traguardi cui aspira e che per le sue potenzialità poteva raggiungere, onore alla costanza e alle ambizioni sane di questo splendido esempio di atleta, inoltre fa molto bene al suo paese un’esempio così sano.
